If you’re looking for the most secure place to store your collection, you may want to consider a metal cabinet or gun safe rather than a gun display cabinet. However, hiding your collection in a safe means you can’t display its beauty.

Some good questions you may want to ask yourself when considering the safety of your gun collection:
- Is your primary goal to display your gun collection or to keep your guns safe and in optimal condition?
- Are there children who may gain access to your gun collection?
- Do you live in an area where there are frequent robberies or break-ins?
- Are your friends and family trustworthy? Do they tend to solve problems in a calm and rational manner?
- What are your future gun-storage needs? How many guns are you planning on adding to your collection over the next couple of years?
Space concerns
When making your gun-storage purchase, you will want to make sure to buy a unit to which you can comfortably add guns and ammunition as your collection grows. The rule of thumb among experts is to buy twice the size you currently need.
Do you live in a house or apartment? Apartments may not be able to handle the weight of a large gun safe, and if you are considering anchoring your safe to a wall or floor, you might have a problem. In this case, a display cabinet or even a metal gun cabinet may be your best option.
If you are comfortable in your answers to these questions, then a stylish gun cabinet with a tempered glass front for display purposes may be the obvious choice.
